In his 3000th blog post today, Seth Godin reminded me about why I argued strongly for this blog and why it’s important for us to persevere with it.
By sharing our ideas (and bashing heads occasionally) we occasionally uncover “magic”. That one special idea that is born out of a moment of passion and confusion that some people refer to as the spark or lightbulb moment. Yes, it happens in real life mostly, but how much of yesterday’s conversations do you remember?
Remember that conversation we had about the click being an outdated metric (we haven’t yet, but you better get ready for it here) or that cool landscape image that would have been perfect for… you get the idea.
We all as individuals store knowledge. In all manner of places, with all sorts of delicious devices and what not, but this blog is for us to store and share collectively as HelloComputer and as a team. If I’m not using your knowledge sharing tool of choice, does that mean that we shouldn’t trade knowledge?
The SoapBox Sessions are an extension of this idea. Every fortnight, a different member of our studio will present an idea, a thought or just some useful info to the rest of us and they’ll post about it here for everyone to learn from.
The latter side of this blog is that it allows you (friends/clients/strangers/lost net surfers etc…) the chance to share your opinion on our subject matter as well and in doing so, be a part of something great.
I was always told, “You can never know where a good idea is going to come from…”, well sometimes it’s harder for us to notice one that’s already arrived.
Without further adieu, Seth’s 3000th post after the jump. Take the time to read it, it really is worth it.
And my thanks go to that special egg-shaped head - it truly is inspiring.
