Sometimes life does the unexpected, sometimes the unexpected is bad and sometimes there is nothing you can do to change the bad.
Then, when you have no choices perhaps all you have left is your attitude.
In Randy Pausche’s story I learnt about a professor of computer science, a husband, a father of three and a true Imagineer. Who, in September 2006 learned that he was terminally ill.
In September 2007, at Carnegie Mellon, he delivered his last lecture entitled “The Last Lecture: Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams”. His lecture was not one of regret or bitterness, but of:
• Dream Big.
• Ask for What You Want.
• Dare To Take a Risk.
• Look for the Best In Everybody.
• Make Time for What Matters.
• Let Kids Be Themselves.
• Always Have Fun.
He ended by saying: “This talk wasn’t for you guys. It was for Dylan, Logan, and Chloe.”, but I’ll take a couple of things out of the talk too, primarily his attitude.
RIP Randy Pausche.
