New Horizons

Anyone who wants to make a difference or influence where NASA’s New Horizons spacecraft will head to, now has the chance. Space is becoming more and more popular amongst crowdsourcing trends. The latest project by Zooniverse (a successful online citizen science project organisation) and Ice Hunters has inspired ordinary space enthusiasts all over the world, to take part in finding the final target of the New Horizons Mission.

Just to get your head around this exciting challenge, New Horizons is a NASA mission that was launched in January 2006 and is expected to reach Pluto, its main destination, in 2015. This historic voyage will be the furthest mission ever recorded from Earth.

The New Horizons spacecraft will have just enough fuel to explore an additional celestial object, inspiring Zooniverse and Ice Hunters with the perfect crowdsourcing project – giving the public the opportunity to choose the most distant object ever visited by a spacecraft from Earth.

How do you get involved? It’s simple. For more information visit: http://www.icehunters.org/ or http://www.zooniverse.org/
